Biography
Emily G. Wenneborg is the Director of Pascal Study Center, Urbana Theological Seminary’s
outreach to the University of Illinois community, and Assistant Professor of Philosophy of Education and Religious Studies. Her teaching and scholarship focuses on the challenges and possibilities of Christian faithfulness in the context of late modernity’s deep pluralism. She has taught a weekend intensive on the Pensées of Blaise Pascal and is developing a new course on philosopher Charles Taylor’s magnum opus, A Secular Age. Both courses involve close reading of a single work to discover valuable insights for following Christ today.
Dr. Wenneborg is passionate about writing, believing that clear, compelling writing brings glory to God and grace to the reader. In addition to academic articles, she has written for a number of small magazines for general audiences, including Plough, The Hedgehog Review, Mere Orthodoxy, Ad Fontes, and Front Porch Republic. She is also deeply committed to helping students develop as writers. She values Urbana Seminary as a place where students can learn to communicate gospel truth effectively in their various vocations.
